Awana & Vacation Bible School
AWANA stands for “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed” as taken from 2 Timothy 2:15. It says, “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who is not ashamed and who correctly handles the Word of Truth.”
Awana is a non-denominational program where kids learn to memorize scripture, play fun games, hear life changing stories, build friendships and have tons of fun!
We meet every Tuesday from September to April. Our program is for kids in Kindergarten to Grade 8. Registration costs are $35 per child for the year. This covers the cost of the uniform, handbook & awards the children will earn throughout the year.
This ministry seeks to support parents by equipping children to know, love and serve Jesus Christ using games, stories, activities, Bible teaching and memory.
Sparks is for children from Kindergarten to Grade 2: This program introduces kids to Bible characters and events and teaches why they are important. This group will rotate between large group, game time, and book time.
Truth & Training is designed especially for children from Grade 3-6: T&T uses a question and answer format with answers backed up by scripture. The materials help kids love God. This group will rotate between large group, game time, and book time much like the Sparks.
TREK is designed especially for children in Grades 7-8: Middle School youth have the opportunity to learn in a Bible study format while developing leadership and serving skills with the Trek program.

2017 VBS – July 24-27 – Theme to be announced!
Quizzing is a sport in which teams match knowledge, jumping speed, memory and quickness of response against one another on a designated portion of Scripture.
Quizzers cover a different portion of the New Testament each season. Each teen involved in quizzing will be installing God’s Word in their life and improving their Bible memory skills. It is a great way to develop great Christian friendships and establishes an opportunity for mentoring relationships.
Teens will learn how to work as a team, how to be self-disciplined and build Godly character. Teams travel to quiz meets throughout the year and compete against other quiz teams to test their knowledge. Its a fantastic way for teens to have fun studying the Word of God!!
Edson Baptist Church has a team of quizzers, grades 6-12, that meet weekly for practice and study. For more info please call the church 780-723-3982 or check out the quizzing website www.wcdquizzing.org
